This is about, my site.

SelfyMy name’s Gerhard Hoogterp and I have been a photographer since I was around 15 or 16 years old. I got my first camera, an asahi pentax spotmatix and started practising. In the dark room of a friend I developed my first films and made my first prints. None of them survived and I’m sure that’s for the better.. (note: I actually found back one photo from that time!)

Fast forward many years in which I never stopped making photo’s, but it wasn’t really a hobby either, till the time I got kids. I became a member of a club, back into the darkroom again, this time making real paper prints some of which are still hanging on the walls in the living room.

Fast forward again some time until I got my hands on my first digital camera (a canon powershot S3). As I didn’t have access to a darkroom anymore this was great. And from then on it never stopped.

First I got myself a minolta dynax 7D. A great camera, only 6 mega pixels but due to the low pixel count it had little noise.  Regretfully it was somewhat lacking in features and quite heavy so after a few years I started looking for a lighter, more up to date camera and bought a Sony Alpha 65. That’s where I am today, together with my favourite tamron 90mm/2.8 prime macro lens I feel ready for my favourite subject: Macro’s, flowers and it’s quite a nice portrait lens too.
Most of the cameras you can see in my camera gallery. I still have to add some text there.

The last few years I’ve spent a lot of time on floral photography. They are colourful, always around and best of all, they don’t run away when I approach. The same actually goes for land- and seascapes. Those and other galleries you can find under the galleries menu.

Anyhow, I hope you like what you see on this site and don’t hesitate to leave a comment if you do.
